The peasants of the Sarn Valley have long known the healing powers of the Sarn Valley pine, Pinus sarentensis, and a vial of pine oil can be found in every farmhouse medicine cabinet. The special climate, at between 1800 and 2400 metres above sea level, the acidic soils on volcanic rock and the pure mountain air all provide for ideal growing conditions.
Legend has it that the beautiful healer of the Sarn Valley, Theresa, also known as Trehs, was an expert in the miraculous powers of plants and was sought after to cure various ailments. She was also reputed to have thrown branches into the fire to produce a trance-like effect during the witching nights up by the mystical standing stones, the “Stoanernen Mandln”.
As we know, the scent of pine has a stimulating effect that frees the mind and gives us strength. This ancient knowledge has been further developed in the “Trehs” care product line and is used in the sauna infusions and body and facial treatments. Common to all products is their healing power: the Sarn Valley pine also stimulates the self-regulating mechanisms of the body itself.
